Picture post

Hey there,

I can't sleep. It's not that I don't want to sleep but I've been tossing and turning for quite some time and I can't just seem to shut my eyes. It's insanely frustrating when I can't sleep when I want to sleep. The feeling is just so blerghhhh -_-

I'm just going to post of some pictures ;)

Cereals
When I was young, eating koko krunch was considered a luxury to me.
I like the way how these tiny crescent moon shaped cereals melt in the cold
milk, making them crunchy and soft at the same time. And when it melts, it gives the plain milk a chocolaty kick. I still love eating koko krunch even though I am all grown up now. There's just something about koko krunch that keeps me coming back for more.

Guide book
A guide book, for instance a travel guide, is like a compass when traveling. It illustrates to us where we need to go, where we should go, where we should stay, where we should eat, what you should do, what you shouldn't do, what you shouldn't miss, etc. Sometimes, we wished that there's a guide book to everything in life so that we wouldn't have to spend so much time figuring out how to resolve certain issues. Sometimes we wished that there is someone to tell us what we should do so that we do not get lost. Sometimes we wished that there is a clear map of our lives so that we know what are coming along the way. These are 'sometimes' because I believe that if we are told how our lives would turn out to be, we will wish for things to be the other way round. That's so human - always seeking for adventure, and waiting for the unexpected and unusual turn of events.

Oh.... my

I just realised that this blog has been breathing for more than a year already.

1 year and 12 days to be exact!

Lols =] i'll try to keep it here for as long as I can ....

The beauty of attempt

I miss today's class. The heavy rain makes it even easier for me to skip the class and it makes me feeling less guilty about it as well. Of late, college life has been pretty mundane but then and again, has it ever been exciting for me since degree started?

It is true that in terms of social I do not enjoy myself as much as I do back when I was in diploma. Nevertheless, this semester I've been working hard on improving my social life, much more than the first semester, and things are slowly picking up. I am not sure if things will even reach the peak because this is my final year and I have just one more semester to go after this. So, perhaps time will not permit for me to get to know my classmates well enough.

On a side note, maybe 'time' is just an excuse I am giving myself. But, how do you fit yourself into a social circle when everyone seems to know each other for so long except, you. I think I am the issue and not my classmates. I guess I am just really closed up that I find it hard to open up to people.

Nevertheless, I've promised myself that this semester will be a semester of growing and learning. I am not sure where I stand right now. As a matter of fact, I think I am not even half way there. To continue moving, I think I shall start asking a few of them for their mobile numbers. I only have a few.. like really a few. And, in case of emergency, I only have that few to rely on. So, I reckon as a start, I should start asking. Hopefully, as time goes by, I will not have numbers of them, but pictures of them as well.

They say college/university life is supposed to be one of the best times of our lives. However, I will be fine if it doesn't turn out to be the way I expected it to be ....

......because sometimes the beauty is in the attempt....

A Little Food Trip

Sigh! My stomach is already full to the brim from dinner just now, but here I am ogling at this food blog instead of doing my assignments.

I want to share with you this amazing food blog that I've been reading for quite some time to satiate my eyes. It's a really cool blog and it offers amazing recipes - from easy to hard, from pasta to meat, from Western to Asian, and anything that you can think of in the food galore. Sometimes, I avoid browsing through this site, especially when it's past midnight because it has this ability to trigger the hungry button in me. However, sometimes I just can't stop myself. Sigh!!!!!!
Why do I like to eat?
Why do I like to look at food?
Why do I like to try new things? -_-

Let me show you a few things that I've just spotted. Kekekeke =)

A really simple carbonara pasta - topped with eggs and bacons!
So yum yum!

Oh-my! Look at the golden yellow yolk.
Such a beautiful colour. I bet it's as delicious as it looks.

This is a Mexican chocolate cake.
Ahh.. strawberries with chocolate.
One can never go wrong with such combination.
The sweetness of the chocolate
can be tamed with the sourness of the strawberry-
giving it a perfect balance.
Once my mum made this really delicious moist chocolate cake.
The cake was so huge that
it took us quite some time to finish it.

Home made ice-cream.
If only I have an ice-cream maker.
But, I'm not sure if having one is a good idea or not..
if you get what I mean.
Kekekekee... =)

Pretty little squares - they are called WAFFLES!!
I absolutely adore them.
That is why I love eating at Waffles World as well.
Waffles are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside;
And, they go really well with just anything you can think of -
butter, jams, ice-creams, honey, maple syrups, icing sugar,
and best of all you can just eat them like that!

I WANT TO HAVE A WAFFLE MAKER!!!
I don't mind getting it as a birthday gift. AHHAHA *winks*

I love coffee.
They are like love at first whiff. =)
I need to have them everyday or else I will feel like something is missing -
like the day is not complete!
I think only coffee lovers will get what I mean.
I can have more than one in a day if only my mum doesn't make so much noise about it.
She's very "bising" when she sees me drink it at night.
But, I love them so much that I don't want to be apart from them.
Coffee beans look so cute as well.
Don't you think so? And, they smell so good!!!

You know what makes a perfect breakfast?
A cup of black coffee (without sugar) with waffles topped with strawberries and chocolate syrup along with a scoop of vanila ice-cream and some maple syrup at the sideline.

My mum just walked in and asked, "How come your table looks so clean? Where are all you books and notes? Aren't you supposed to be doing your assignments?"

AHHAHAHAHAAH.....

Back to reality... Hope you enjoy this little food trip! =)

In need of construction!!!

AHAHHAA... I don't know what happened to my blog layout. I was experimenting with some layouts and now I just can't seem to fix it. I shall find some time to do something about this when I am done with one of my assignments. =)

The Bucket List

I am supposed to be doing my work but because my mind is scattered all over right now, I shall just share with you about a really meaningful movie that I've watched today. By the way, I can't remember when was the last time I actually watched two movies in a row. Well, watching series is different. Aside from watching Twilight today, I've also watched The Bucket List and there are many things about that movie which are worth thinking about.

p/s: At first, I thought Twilight is an over-exaggerated movie, but after watching it, I think it's quite entertaining. It's not too bad despite being a vampire movie. Yeah, the love story in it might not be too logical, but I guess love is blind and it always makes us do the impossible and we always surprise ourselves along the way.

Alright, back to the movie that I was talking about - The Bucket List.

The Bucket List is a movie about two complete strangers - Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) - who hates each other guts the first time that they met but later on became the best of friends, more than anything that anyone can ask for.

Edward is a billionaire who make his own in this world from scratch while Carter is mechanic who had to leave college early when his wife became pregnant. Edward and Carter met at the hospital where both were admitted due to cancer. While spending most of their time together as roommates at the hospital, they gradually find friendship and companionship from each other.

From there, they slowly hit off as friends while battling their own sickness.

One day, Carter made a to-do list known as the Bucket List. Bucket List is like a list of things that one sets to pursue in life before one hits the bucket. So, Carter draw up his list but upon hearing from the doctor that he has only about a year to live, Carter tossed that list away. The next morning, Edward found that piece of paper on the floor. He picked it up and started reading it. Edward than encouraged Carter to do what he desires to do and that they will do it together.

So, both left for a lifetime adventure and together they take on the world. And, it is this journey that two complete strangers enjoyed themselves to the most, fulfilling their unfulfilled dreams.

Of course there's more to this description here, but I shall not reveal any intricate details just in case someone who is reading my blog has not watched the movie yet. It will be such a spoiler for such a good movie. But, here's their 'Bucket List':-
  1. Witness something truly majestic
  2. Help a complete stranger for a common good
  3. Laugh till I cry
  4. Drive a Shelby Mustang
  5. Kiss the most beautiful girl in the world
  6. Get a tattoo
  7. Skydiving
  8. Visit Stoneage
  9. Spend a week at the Lourve
  10. See Rome
  11. Dinner at La Cherie d'Or
  12. See the Pyramids
  13. Get back in touch (previously "Hunt the big cat")
  14. Visit Taj Mahal, India
  15. Hong Kong
  16. Victoria Falls Ride the Great Wall of China
Isn's it interesting? I think I will make my own bucket list as well. Anyway, they are many memorable quotes from this movie. I shall share a few of my favourites.

1. "You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you." - Carter

We live in this rat race world. Every now and then, God put us to some sort of test whereby we are surrounded by people who are wiser, smarter, better looking, etc,. than us in either one or many other aspects.

If we actually take a deeper conscious to this matter, we will realise that we are actually the master of this fabricated ideas that they are better than us, better than ourselves. And, during this trial and turbulence, those who continue to strive for positivity will endure this race and emerge as winner, while those who allow the negativity to eat them up and consume them completely will not even finish the race as they continue to battle within themselves.

It's easier said than done. I am still grasping this lesson as well - learning to think not highly but positively about myself. It's hard. Sometimes, self-esteem and self-confidence hit the lowest key and it affects us emotionally and mentally.

It's suffering when things like that happen because we can't prevent ourselves from swimming in this pool of uncertainty as it is so hard for us to let others know about our weaknesses. No one wants to appear to be weak and meak.

I guess, this is a life lesson that we can't master in just one instance. It's going to take a lifetime of learning and accepting the reality of life. And, the only way we can do it is to embrace "You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you" because no matter how good we are, there are people who are better than us but they are people who are not as good as us as well.

We live to chase but we also live to be chased - I think the later is often left out by most. I am one of them. No one is perfect. I can never be perfect either. All I can do is to learn to be perfect at the very least.

2. "Even now I cannot understand the measure of a life, but I can tell you this. I know that when he died, his eyes were closed and his heart was open. And I'm pretty sure he was happy with his final resting place, because he was buried on the mountain. And that was against the law. " - Carter

Have you ever given thought to whether you want to be buried or burned when you die? Or where do you want to live after you are no longer alive? Such irony right? I mean we still have to choose where we want to be even when we are no longer breathing.

For as long as I can remember, I've never been afraid of death. I've always think that death is fated. If it's our time, we will leave this world and everything behind. If you are allowed to ask when will you die, will you ask? Hmm.. I am not sure. I would love to know when I will die so that I will make sure that I will do the things that I want to do before I go. But, knowing is a very scary thing because I'll be thinking about my own death every minute of the day.

I do hope that I will not die in a painful manner. I do hope that I will die peacefully without much pain and suffering because anyone who knows me will know that I am afraid of being in pain.

3. "The simplest thing is... I loved him. And I miss him. Carter and I saw the world together. Which is amazing... When you think that only three months ago, we were complete strangers! I hope that it doesn't sound selfish of me but... the last months of his life were the best months of mine. He saved my life... And he knew it before I did." - Edward

Sometimes I think life is selfish in a twisted manner. I guess seeking joy in life is being able to help others to seek joy in thier lives as well.

4. "I envy people who have faith, I just can't get my head around it. " - Edward

Me too! Having faith is one of the hardest things to find in life.

5. "You once said you're not everyone. Well, that's true-you're certainly not everyone, but everyone is everyone. My pastor always says our lives are streams flowing into the same river towards whatever heaven lies in the mist beyond the falls. Find the joy in your life, Edward. My dear friend, close your eyes and let the waters take you home. " - Carter

Sometimes, we shouldn't avoid what should have been. I guess everything has it's time and place and it's best we allow these things to take it's course.

6. "Stars are little holes in heaven's floor"

Although this sentence is simple, but I find it magical. =)

7. "She's one lucky woman"
"I think that I am the lucky one"

Someday .... one day ... at one point of our lives, we will all find our "one".

I cried watching the movie. It's a very moving, inspiring, motivating and meaningful movie and it was certainly worth my tears.
Anyway, I cry way too easily.
I wish I am stronger sometimes; maybe not sometimes but everytime.
